The Dorking Radical Film Festival 2024 showcases independent films by local and national film makers that highlight communities impacted by lifechanging major events. Artist and film maker talks will accompany each screening. On October 18th the award winning Still the Enemy Within will be shown, An uplifting, moving and sad film with a focus on the mining communities that fought against the pit closures 40 years ago. One of the executive producers will introduce the film and there will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end. The Radical Film Festival covers a diverse range of topics from politics, the miner’s strike, knitting and Covid with a common thread of communities coming together against the odds running throughout the festival. Close Knit, which will be screened on October 4th by local artists is an animated documentary which takes a warm and poignant look at the richness and diversity of life and what makes a Close Knit community. The film takes an imaginative leap to look at life beyond the mining industry. All the films will be shown at the Green Room and tickets include the talks.
