Guided Historical Walk – the Deepdene Trail

Sunday | Oct 22
2:00 PM -3:30 PM

Live event or show

Take a walk through the grounds of the Deepdene accompanied by a knowledgable guide from Dorking Museum. The 90 minute stroll through the historic gardens will introduce many of the colourful characters associated with the estate. Hear about the Drunken Duke, the Hope Diamond, another Duke wrongfooted by his ‘giddy and unfaithful’ wife and the squandering of a vast inheritance. The tour will include the grotto, the Embattled Tower and the World War 2 fortifications with a secret beneath, before walking to the Terrace and a visit to the Grade II* listed Hope Mausoleum. The event ends with the option of tea, or something stronger, at Dorking Golf Club.
