Description

Depicting the biblical story of Jesus’ crucifixion from the gospel of St John, Bach takes us on an emotional journey from the anguish and suffering of Jesus to the bewilderment of his followers and the anger and hatred of the crowd. Leith Hill Music Festival Conductor, Neil Ferris, says “I love the St. John Passion. I find it very powerful and moving – in a different way entirely to the monumental St Matthew Passion. I can’t wait to spend a day sharing the wonderful choruses and chorales in the St John, truly heart-rending and also life-affirming”.
