Description

Dress to Impress is an exhibition about fashion in art, running daily at Polesden Lacey until Sunday 2 November (11am to 3.30pm). Discover how fashion and dress have reflected power, politics and personality down the ages in this fascinating exhibition that is presented throughout the house. Dress to Impress delves into dress and social influence and includes historic fashion displays, new designs, photographs, films and talks.

A collaboration with Wimbledon College of Arts, part of University of the Arts London, showcases the next generation of design talent with costumes that have been inspired by the fancy dress attire featured in Margaret Greville’s photograph album of the 1897 Devonshire House Ball.

No need to book in advance, Dress to Impress is free after normal admission. Accessibility

Entrance to the house is step-free. Wheelchairs can be booked through our Business Support team via email or phone, or borrowed on a first come, first served basis on the day. Seats are provided around the house, and an area has been set aside on the ground floor for visitors wanting a quieter space. A virtual walk-through of the upper floor of the exhibition can be viewed via an iPad. Braille and large-print guides giving information about the house are also available; please ask on arrival.
