Description
Once a year, Leatherhead’s Music on Thursdays becomes JAZZ on Thursday. This year’s lunchtime jazz slot features sax player Alastair Penman and jazz pianist Marco Marconi. A veteran of Montreux and of the London Jazz Festival Alastair is well-known to the local audience. Italian-born Marco Marconi is a popular artiste on the Jazz Festival and Club circuits who has been based in London since 2012. Steve Symons, Cheltenham Jazz Festival Manager 2009 says: “I think everyone that heard Marco play was very impressed and I was also overwhelmed by his dedication… Marco is a remarkable musician and made a big impact on us this year.” Both highly qualified performers, Marco with degrees from Italian conservatoires, and Alastair with an Information Science and Engineering degree from Cambridge and his Saxophone Performance degree from the Royal Northern.
